Jon Richardson is to host a new clip show for Comedy Central.

In each hour-long episode of Channel Hopping, the comic will present ‘a weekly digest of the world's wildest TV’.

Producers Rumpus Media say that the six-part series will feature ‘curious headlines from around the world, hilarious clips, terrible soap opera acting and more. Jon will also talk to stars from the clips to find out more about their moment in the limelight’.

The format seems similar to 1980 ITV series Clive James On TV, subsequently revived with Keith Floyd and Chris Tarrant in the title role.

Comedy Central already airs Most Ridiculous, a series based on internet clips, voiced by Katherine Ryan.

The broadcaster has also commissioned the panel show Guessable, hosted by Sara Pascoe and John Kearns, with Alan Davies and Darren Harriott as team captains.

Sebastian Cardwell, deputy director of programmes at Comedy Central’s parent company ViacomCBS Networks UK said: ‘These new series will bring a big dose of laughter to our expanding UK slate. With strong formats and a number of exceptional comedy talents attached to them, they are the perfect recipe of fun and humour.’

Last month it was also revealed that Richardson and his wife  Lucy Beaumont are to make a second series of Meet The Richardsons, the Dave  mockumentary about their life in Yorkshire, with eight 40-minute episodes to air next year, plus two Christmas specials.
