Netflix adds a 'skip Donald Trump jokes' button
They are an almost obligatory part of any comedian’s act. But now Netflix has introduced a button so viewers can skip all the Donald Trump jokes in a stand-up special.
The feature was added for the new Seth Meyers show Lobby Baby, which launches today.
The comic says the button – instigated at his request – was a ‘a funny and innovative way’ to tackle criticism that he would inevitably mock the president.
Speaking to CNN Business, he said: ‘It was a way to build in the response to anyone who would say, "Oh, let me guess, there’s going to be jokes about the president".
He added that button is not meant to be taken seriously, calling it ‘another joke in the special’ and one that’s unlikely to be used.
‘I think, look, sometimes at a fancy restaurant they'll put parsley on your plate and you'll think, well, that's a nice touch, but you're not going to eat the parsley.’
