Khan previously launched a training scheme to give eight people from Birmingham to work behind the scenes on this new series to give them a leg-up into the industry.
He said: ‘Accessing the entertainment industry is one of the trickiest things I have ever seen. And it’s for this reason it was imperative for us to allow working-class people the opportunity to do so.
‘I want to see more of our people in front of and behind the camera. The best way to do this is to facilitate these opportunities when we can. I am genuinely excited to see regular folks grow into something special.’
The places are being funded by BBC Comedy, producers Tiger Aspect and Birmingham City Council’s film office.
Man Like Mobeen has been a hit for BBC Three especially with a younger audience. A total of 63 per cent of its audience is aged under 35. The BBC say that’s ‘well above the average’ for the channel, which may come as a surprise since that is the demographic it is aimed at.
Khan created the show with Andy Milligan and it also stars Tez Ilyas, Tolu Ogunmefun and Duaa Karim.
Series three – which charts what happens after Mobeen has been sucked back into the underworld of his criminal past - is due to air next year.
