Eurydice Dixon's killer jailed for life
The man who raped and killed Australian comedian Eurydice Dixon as she walked home from a gig has been jailed for life.
Jaymes Todd, 20, will not be eligible for parole for 35 years.
Sentencing him in Melbourne, Justice Stephen Kaye described his crimes as ‘totally and categorically evil’.
Todd had pleaded guilty and the court heard he had entertained fantasies of violent sexual encounters and killings in the year prior to the attack.
Outside court after the sentence was passed, Euridyce's father Jeremy said: 'I am very pleased there is a killer off the streets.
'What I wish for Jaymes Todd, and what I believe Eurydice would wish, is that he gets better and realises what he's done. I extend my sincere sympathy for those who love him. It's a terrible tragedy all rounf
'Eurydice herself should be remembered – as her friends will remember her – for her wit and her courage and her kindness, not for her death.’

Eurydice's sister Polly Cotton added: ‘She was gutsy and determined and clever and when I think of her I feel proud and inspired and in this way I am surviving.’
Todd killed Dixon, 22, in the early hours of June 13 last year in Melbourne's Princes Park. She had been walking home from a performance at Highlander Bar in the centre of the city, with Todd following her for two-and-a-half miles before he attacked.
The comedian’s death prompted renewed debate about safety for women.
