Momentum recorded at the Hackney Empire

Mo Gilligan has sold his first stand-up special to Netflix.

The comic’s Coupla Cans tour will be released globally on the streaming service on September 30, where it has been renamed Momentum.

It was recorded at the Hackney Empire in East London in April, at the end of a tour that sold more than 50,000 tickets.

Gilligan, whose Lateish Show has just ended a six-episode run on Channel 4, said: ‘I am so excited to announce my debut special with Netflix. After such an amazing tour, it is only right that the world gets to see the show.’

The special, which features a full live band, was directed by Chris Howe, whose credits include The Mash Report and Michael McIntyre's Big Show.
