New primetime series for ITV

Alan Carr is to revive some classic gameshow formats in a new ITV series.

The comic will be bringing back Play Your Cards Right, Take Your Pick, Strike It Lucky, Bullseye, and The Price is Right in the hour-long programmes entitled Alan Carr’s Epic Gameshow

He said: "It is such a privilege for me to be involved in these truly iconic shows that have brought so much joy to my childhood. A little bit of nostalgia but a whole load of fun. Big shoes to fill I know, but these shows should be back on telly for a whole new generation to sit down and enjoy with their family just like I did all those years ago!’

The commission also includes a Christmas edition of The Price Is Right, and a Play Your Cards Right selebrity special, brining the total number of episodes up to seven.

And the broadcaster says the classic formats are being updated with a new big-money final round.

Joe Mace, ITV’s commissioning editor for entertainment said: ‘We are really excited to bring these brilliant shows back to primetime with Alan Carr, they are the perfect match and we can't wait for the audiences to fall in love with both.’

Carr – who currently hosts There's Something About Movies for Sky One – last year presented a revival of  The Price Is Right for Channel 4.

The show is being produced by  Talkback, which also makes Celebrity Juice, QI and Your Face or Mine?
