Comedians complete the London marathon
Several comedians have completed today’s London Marathon.
Mock The Week regular Ed Gamble finished the gruelling 26.2-mile race in 3hrs 54mins – 15 minutes slower than when he took part in 2017.
He was running to raised money for research into diabetes – a condition he has – and before the race admitted: ‘I wasn’t planning on doing it again," he admits, "but they called to ask after I’d had two to three glasses of wine.
‘There’s a slight amount of regret in accepting it but it’s too late now. I’m locked in.’
And he joked that he runs like a duck: ‘It’s like my feet don’t leave the ground and my legs are completely straight. In my head I look majestic, but in truth I look utterly bizarre.’
But he was beaten by Helen Duff who finished in 3hrs 47mins, and raised money for the hardship fund for Lamda, the London Acadamy of Music and Dramatic Art, which she preciously attended,
Vikki Stone, who was running for the Dog's Trust, came in at 4hrs 19mins, and Tom Parry ran in 4hrs and 42mins.
Paul Tonkinson, running for the Motor Neurone Disease Association in the 45 to 49 age bracket, completed the race in 3hrs 59mins.
Rob Deering, running in the same category for Parkinson’s UK, was just six seconds faster. Both are pictured above.
Abdullah Afzal, who played Amjad Malk in BBC One comedy Citizen Khan, ran his first ever marathon for the Penny Appeal finishing in 6hrs 43mins
