Mischief Theatre do Magic Goes Wrong

The team behind The Play That Goes Wrong have teamed up with magicians Penn and Teller for their next show.

Mischief Theatre will be channelling the spirit of Tommy Cooper in Magic Goes Wrong, which opens in the West End in December.

The troupe, which has just landed a BBC One series on the back of their successful Christmas specials, will be offering a teaser for the show during BBC One’s Comic Relief telethon on Red Nose Day, March 15.

The collaboration came after the magicians came to see  The Play That Goes Wrong about 18 months ago, when they were in London to perform their own shows at the  Hammersmith Apollo.

Teller said: ‘When our own magic has gone wrong, we were miserable, but when it's somebody else, it's hilarious, so this seems like the perfect project for Mischief and us. We're huge fans of theirs, so collaborating with them was a privilege and an astonishment.

‘Any idea we'd pitch them, right on the spot they'd turn it around and make us double over laughing. We're very proud of the results and hope you enjoy the show.’

The show runs at the Vaudeville Theatre from December 14 with an opening night on January 8.
