
Dan's the man for Leicester Mercury title
Comic follows in some illustrious footsteps
Daniel Sofoluke has been named Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year 2019 at the city’s annual comedy festival.
The 32-year-old from Bermondsey, London, who also performs as Dan Soff, is now based in Manchester and works as an app developer.
On winning the coveted title, he said: 'I feel shocked and honoured. Winning Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year and joining the ranks of previous winners is a dream come true.’
Past winners have included Johnny Vegas, Jason Manford, Rhod Gilbert and Romesh Ranganathan.
Runner -up was Simon Wozniak, 27, from Liverpool, and Kathryn Mather, 26 from Rochdale, was third.
The eight finalists were selected by comedy promoters from across the UK. They also included: Krystal Evans, 33 born USA but living in Edinburgh; Jamie Hutchinson, 28 from Manchester; Jeremy Flynn, 34, from Bristol; Jen Ives, 28 from South East London; Riordan DJ, 28 from Devon.
