Sixth series for Still Open All Hours
Still Open All Hours is to return for a sixth series, the BBC confirmed today.
The show, starring Sir David Jason as grocer Granville, has already surpassed the original Open All Hours both in the number of series and the number of episodes.
Filming will begin early next year with the series returning later in 2019.
Returning cast include Johnny Vegas, Kulvinder Ghir, Tim Healy, Brigit Forsythe, Geoffrey Whitehead, Sue Holderness, Stephanie Cole, Maggie Ollerenshaw, Sally Lindsay, James Baxter and Katie Redford.
Sir David Jason said: ‘It always gives me great pleasure to look forward to working with such a wonderful and talented cast and crew, kick-started by the creation of such a surreal and silly world courtesy of Roy Clarke.
‘I am delighted that we will start filming again next year as I know we will all have fun recording each episode and that the viewers get the chance to enjoy the fun on their screens.’
The last series averaged 4.23million viewers in October and December.
BBC commissioning editor Gregor Sharp said Still Open All Hours was ‘one of UK comedy's crown jewels’.
A new Christmas special will be shown on BBC One on Sunday at 6.50pm
