Still Game to launch BBC's new Scotland channel
Still Game’s ninth and final series will begin on the new BBC Scotland channel on the night it launches,Sunday February 24.
Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill’s series will only go out on BBC One across the rest of the UK later in the year, although it will be available on iPlayer.
The BBC has announced the launch day of the new channel tonight, with the long-running comedy confirmed as part of the initial schedule.
Hemphill said: ‘Jack and Victor are a bottle being smashed on the bow of a beautiful ship and we’re absolutely thrilled to be launching Scotland’s brand new digital channel with the last ever series of Still Game.’
Kiernan added: ’Scotland is where Still Game’s roots began and it’s right the story comes to an end here.
‘From the early beginnings on radio through to TV, we started to build Still Game in Scotland so we’re honoured our show will be part of the launch of a new BBC channel from Scotland. We’re looking forward to our audience joining us at the end of our fabulous adventure.’
The last-ever Still Game sereies reunites Craiglang’s finest, including Jane McCarry (Isa), Sanjeev Kohli (Navid), Gavin Mitchell (Boabby), Paul Riley (Winston) and Mark Cox (Tam) for six new episodes.
Guest stars will include Martin Compston from Line of Duty, musicians Midge Ure and Amy MacDonald, Taggart star James McPherson and comedian Des Clarke.
