Sharon Horgan to star in Military Wives movie
Sharon Horgan is to star in a new film based on the Military Wives choir.
The Catastrophe co-creator will appear alongside Kristin Scott Thomas in the movie, called simply Military Wives, Screen Daily reports
Horgan joked: ‘I tried to talk them out of giving me this part because I can’t really sing. But they just said "Pierce Brosnan" and so here I am.’
Scott Thomas added: ‘This is the kind of film I love to do; it will make people laugh, and make people cry, touching on the subject of families who are often forgotten,’
Written Rosanne Flynn and Rachel Tunnard, the film will celebrate the wives of service personnel who turned to music to take their minds off their partners in combat. The real-life Military Wives choir have had two No1 hits and performed for the Queen at the Royal Albert Hall.
Last month it was revealed that Horgan is to direct her first feature film, a big-screen version of The New World, a novel about a man whose head is cryogenically frozen.
And she is set to write and star in a new comedy for Amazon, playing a woman who launches a self-help company. The screening giant has ordered a script for the planned new show, which is still untitled.
