Philomena Cunk writes her first book
Philomena Cunk is to release her first book.
Comedian Diane Morgan, who plays the dim-witted presenter, is one of the co-writers of the title, Cunk On Everything: The Philomena Cunk Encyclopedia.
Charlie Brooker and Joel Morris and Jason Hazeley – the duo behind the hugely successful Ladybird Books for Grown-Ups series – are also co-writing.
It’s the same team that was behind her BBC Two series Cunk on Britain, which ended earlier this month having averaged just under 1million viewers an episode on overnight ratings.
According to the book’s blurb: ‘After years of asking the big questions – like ‘what did people do before evolution?’ and ‘what is clocks?’ - Cunk will compress the entirety of human knowledge into one handy Christmas gift book, from Shakespeare to sausages, from evolutionary psychology to Brush Strokes.’
In her words: ‘This book is great because it covers everything in existence apart from the 95 per cent of stuff not worth bothering with.’
The title will be published by Two Roads – the company that’s also behind Susan Calman’s books – on November 1. It will also be released as an audiobook.
Editorial director Kate Hewson said: I think these days we all feel like there’s too much knowledge in the world – and there’s more every year. That’s why I’m so thrilled to be publishing Philomena Cunk, a voice of reason and sanity, who cuts through all the superfluous "facts" and "information" to get to the heart of these complex topics.’
The title is not yet available for preorder.
