Russell Howard, Jack Docherty – and a massive 1950s prom
New Fringe shows announced today
The last major tranche of Edinburgh Fringe shows are going on sale today – and here are some of the highlights of the new batch:
- Max & Ivan – the sketch double act behind The Wrestling – are staging another one-night-only extravaganza, this one based around a 1950s American high school prom, featuring Jason Byrne as school mascot 'Ernie the Ass', Kieran Hodgson as captain of the drama society, Lolly Adefope as head cheerleader, and many more.
- Russell Howard will be returning to the Fringe, performing stand-up at Assembly
- Scottish comic Jack Docherty returns to the Fringe for his first full run in 25 years. His return to the Gilded Balloon will feature two of his most famous creations: Scot Squad’s stoic Chief Commissioner, Cameron Miekelson, and the fiercely patriotic McGlashan from Channel 4 sketch show Absolutely.
- 30 Rock star Judah Friedlander is also playing the Gilded Balloon, following his recent Netflix special America Is the Greatest Country in the United States with a new hour of stand-up.
- A return to the Fringe for John Cleese’s comedian daughter Camilla, this time appearing in her solo debut having previously shared a bill in 2014.
- Comic Rob Rouse, as seen on Upstart Crow, will be appearing with his wife Helen Rutter in an autobiographical play, The Ladder, about a tumultuous point during their own marriage at the Gilded Balloon.
- Former Doctor Who Sylvester McCoy starring Dan Freeman’s play A Joke, which deconstructs the Englishman, Irishman and Scotsman gag, at Assembly.
All tickets go on sale at midday today
