Susan's Strictly struggle
Susan Calman is fighting for her Strictly Come Dancing future after scoring just 25 points in tonight’s episode.
She and professional partner Kevin Clifton came bottom of the leaderboard after performing a paso doble inspired by Baz Luhrmann’s 1992 film Strictly Ballroom
The comedian donned a red flamenco dress, and performed with drama – if not technical precision – in the Blackpool Tower ballroom, in a routine Clifton has been trying to get on to the show for years.
Although it was a crowd-pleaser, it did not go down so well with judges.
Craig Revel Horwood said: ‘It needed more of everything, too soft and wafty but I loved the flamenco stamps.’
Bruno Tolioli said Calman had 'great intensity, but at times it looked like a paso doble that had shrunk in the wash.'
Darcey Bussell added: ‘You were trying to catch up, you needed to travel and step out. There were moments there when I felt you were trying to catch up with Kevin.'
But Shirley Ballas had some praise, saying: 'I thought you covered the floor very well.'
Their score puts them bottom out of eight couples, one point below Jonnie Peacock and Oti Mabuse and four points adrift of Mollie King and AJ Pritchard, who surprisingly survived a dance-off two weeks ago.
Calman tweeted: 'Bottom of the leaderboard but top of the happiness charts. If you want us to keep dancing then please vote!'
Voting is now open here to try to keep the couple in the competition.
