...including the project Trap Door's creator left behind

The studio behind Wallace And Gromit has launched a new YouTube channel to collate 'original, off-beat animated comedy'.

Aardman's AardBoiled hub will showcase both established producers and new talent.

One of the first projects is Weirdy Rhymes, a series originally developed by Trap Door animator Terry Brain who died last year before he could see his idea through to completion:

The series is produced by Terry's son Dave Brain and Michael Percival, who said: 'We decided to offer Weirdy Rhymes for distribution on Aardman's new YouTube channel, because we believe in the Aardman family.

'Terry Brain worked with Aardman for many years and would be proud to have his work represented by them. We're grateful for this opportunity to show Weirdy Rhymes and wish that as many people as possible will get the same joy from them that we have had putting them together."

Another series is Clod, a line-drawn animation of an annoying unstoppable idiot created by Rich Webber.

A total of ten producers are already on board, while Aardman will also re-release previous offerings such as Pib & Pog and Big Jeff via AardBoiled.

Sarah Cox, Aardman's executive creative director, said: 'It is rare and inspiring to see such high quality work direct from the creators without any interference from development executives. All the good stuff without the edges rounded off.'

The company has also put out a call to animators who want to be featured on the channel.
