Look who's 'Back'
Here is the first look at David Mitchell and Robert Webb in the new Channel 4 series Back.
The Peep Show pair play estranged brothers in the six-half hour episodes – which will be airing in the early autumn. The broadcaster has not yet officially announced the premiere date.
The picture also shows the pair’s co-stars, from left: Geoff McGivern, Penny Downie and Louise Brealey.
Mitchell plays Stephen, who is poised to take over the family pub on his father’s death, with mum Ellen (Downie) and sister Cass (Brealey) having no interest in the business: they're 'creative', with weed to buy and energy centres to rebalance.
But when the charming Andrew (Webb) turns up out of the blue, Stephen’s plans go awry. Charismatic Andrew has lived in Sydney, Amsterdam, Lisbon, the Loire Valley and Berlin but crucially, spent five formative months in 1989 fostered by Laurie and Ellen as a 15-year-old.
To Stephen, Andrew was just one of a string of 30-odd foster kids who he spent his childhood resenting. But Andrew remembers every single detail and sees that time as the most important of his life. Now he's back, and keen to revisit the closest thing he's ever had to a family.
Back was created by Simon Blackwell, whose writing credits include Peep Show and The Thick Of It.
