...and it's excruciating

Excruciating footage has emerged of Donald Trump’s spokeswoman Kellyanne Conway as stand-up comedian.

The President’s adviser last week caused a media frenzy after coining the term ‘alternative facts’ to cover her boss’s tracks – and allegedly punched a man at one of the Inauguration Balls as she broke up a fight.

But in the 1990s she performed stand-up under her maiden name of Fitzpatrick at a charity event for the Child Welfare League of America – and it’s as awful as her critics would hope.

The 11-minute set is full of insider Washington jokes about figures barely in the public consciousness, sub-Jay Leno gags, and sneers at ‘pundettes’, the briefly fashionable, if dismissive, term for young female political commentators.

She even closed with a revue-style jazz number called The Pundette Blues (‘but they’ll invite me to chat/as long as I’m blonde/and not too fat’) which features more recognisable names of the era such as Newt Gingrich, and Monica Lewinsky, performed in feather boa.

It’s unclear when exactly the set was recorded, but it was posted online on New Year’s Day this year.
