E4 buys Black-ish
Channel 4 has acquired the UK rights to American sitcom Black-ish.
The first series of the Emmy-nominated comedy will air on E4 from later this month.
With a cast that includes Anthony Anderson, Tracee Ellis Ross, Wanda Sykes and Laurence Fishburne, the show is now in its third season on America’s ABC network.
It revolves around an upper-middle class black parents Dre (Anderson) and Rainbow (Ross) who struggle to raise their children with a sense of cultural identity
It has earned acclaim for its discussion of political and social issues: this week’s episode is about the election and the marginalisation of black voters, while previous storylines have covered police shootings and the use of the N word. The Chicago Tribune called it: ‘The ideal sitcom for the age of Black Lives Matter'
