LIVE IN MANCHESTER: Still getting more support from the comedy circuit than his own MPs, Jeremy Corbyn is the beneficiary of a fundraiser at the Dancehouse tonight featuring cheery Barbara Nice, social warrior Francesca Martinez, deadpan Norman Lovett, and charmer Smug Roberts.

LIVE IN LONDON: A diverse gang of stand-ups,including Jo Brand, Sara Pascoe and Robin Ince, gather at Leicester Square Theatre for a fundraiser for the crime and safety charity The Suzi Lamplugh Trust.

LIVE IN LONDON: Australian comic Tom Ballard's relatively little-known on these shores, but hopefully his Edinburgh Comedy Award nomination may change that. His show, The World Keeps Happening, has a strong political and social edge - but never at the expense of the funnies from this lively, charismatic performer. He's on at the Soho Theatre at 8.45pm until Saturday.

LIVE IN LONDON: And you could do a double at the same venue with Abnormally Funny People at 7pm tonight and tomorrow - proving that the Last Leg doesn't have a monopoly on disability-led comedy inspired by the Paralympics. The line-up for these two shows is Don Biswas, Laurence Clark, Liz Carr, Steve Best, TanyaLee Davis, Jess Thom and Mat Fraser with token able-bodied bloke Steve Day.

TV: In this Lost Sitcom episode of Steptoe & Son another of Ray Galton and Alan Simpson's classic comedy scripts is reshot to replace an episode that the BBC criminally wiped from its archives. Jeff Rawle and Ed Coleman recreate Albert and Harold Steptoe in A Winter's Tale. And on Saturday, Radio 4 Extra dedicates its morning schedule to the genius of the duo, who were also behind Hancock's Half Hour. BBC Four, 9pm

TV: Matt Forde launches his weekly political show on Dave, Unspun. Recorded the day before airing, this first episode will feature Labour leadership challenger Owen Smith among the guests. 10pm

LIVE IN LONDON: A top-flight line-up of politically motivated comedians have been assembled for a Stand Up for Syria gig at Islington's Union Chapel. Stewart Lee, Bridget Christie, Eleanor Tiernan, Nish Kumar, Josie Long and Michael Legge will all be raising money for the White Helmets, a group of volunteer rescue workers there.

LIVE IN BRISTOL: Jack Dee, Jason Manford, Richard Herring and Susan Calman is the all-star line-up for a gig raising money for the city's Slapstick Festival of classic comedy, taking place at the Colston Hall tonight.

LIVE IN LONDON: James Acaster, Kieran Hodgson, and Nish Kumar were responsible for three of the very best shows at the just-gone Edinburgh Fringe, so it'll be a real treat to see them all on the same bill at the 100 Club on Oxford Street tonight. And 2015 Edinburgh Comedy Award-winner Sam Simmons replaces Hodgson for a second night at the Dancehouse in Manchester tomorrow
