Taskmaster gets a Belgian remake

Others on the cards too

Taskmaster is to be remade in Belgium and Sweden.

Programme-makers Avalon Television have sold the rights to the series, created by Alex Horne, to Belgium broadcaster VTM and Sweden’s STV.

And broadcasters in Finland and the Netherlands have also taken options on the idea, so local versions may follow there, too.

The Dutch-speaking Belgian version, comprising eight hour-long episodes, will launch next month. Gert Verhulst, a former children’s TV presenter, game show host and multi-millionaire media mogul, will take the role of the Taskmaster, as played by Greg Davies in the UK,

His assistant – Horne in the British version – will be actor and sketch performer Ruth Beeckmans.

Taskmaster returns to Dave for its third series in October, this time featuring Dave Gorman, Al Murray, Rob Beckett, Sara Pascoe and Paul Chowdhry.

The show started life at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2010 and 2011, with Horne setting challenges for his comedian friends.
