TV transfer for stage hit

West End hit comedy Peter Pan Goes Wrong is to be adapted for BBC One.

The show comes from Mischief Theatre, who are also behind The Play That Goes Wrong, and will air as a one-off special at Christmas.

To be filmed in front of a live audience at Pinewood Studios, the show is based on the premise that am-dram group The Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society is staging the family favourites, but technical mishaps reduce it to chaos.

Shane Allen, the BBC's controller of comedy commissioning, said: 'This word-of-mouth phenomenon is an absolute riot which plays to all ages and hits the sweet spot for the BBC One family audience.

And Chris Sussman, head of comedy for programme-makers BBC Studios said: 'Peter Pan Goes Wrong was one of the funniest shows I've ever seen in the theatre, and I'm thrilled we've got the chance to bring it to BBC One. Terrifying stunts, a revolving stage and a cast who've never done TV before. What could possibly go wrong?'

The show is co-written by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields, all members of the Mischief Theatre company that was founded in 2008 as an improvised comedy group.

Its executive producer will be by Stephen McCrum, producer Michelle Farr and director Dewi Humphreys.
