THE new series of Red Dwarf, the 11th, will start at 9pm on September 22, the Dave channel has announced.

THE Ken Loach film starring comedian Dave Johns as a man struggling with unemployment has been selected for this year's New York Film Festival. I, Daniel Blake – which won the Palme D'Or in Cannes – was one of 25 movies announced as being part of the event, which starts on September 30.

THE Birmingham comedy festival has launched its 2016 programme, including touring shows by Romesh Ranganathan, The Boy With Tape On His Face and Kerry Godliman among others. The 15th event runs from Friday 7 to Sunday 16 October. Website.

DAVID WALLIAMS is to host a 90-minute celebration, Roald Dahl’s Most Marvellous Book, for Channel 4. The programme, ending in a viewers' Twitter vote, has celebrities including Stephen Spielberg, Richard Curtis, Mackenzie Crook, Jarvis Cocker, Johnny Vegas and Jessica Hynes championing their favourite title. The show will also feature footage of Rik Mayall’s iconic Jackanory reading of George’s Marvellous Medicine.
