Like Spotify for comedy
Louis CK is the most popular comedian for on-demand listening, according to research for a new app offering stand-up specials.
The US-based Laugh.ly launches today, offering audio content from more than 400 comics.
And in its beta testing phase, CK was the most popular, with three of the top five specials.
Former Last Comic Standing champion Alonzo Bodden is one of the comics offering shows via the Spotify-like app, which is available in the UK via iOS or Android.
He said: 'Comedians work hard to develop content and getting material in front of new fans is challenging. I’m excited to have another venue to get my work out to the public.'
Laugh.ly founder Dave Scott, himself a former comic, said: 'There’s a real hunger to access quality stand-up comedy anywhere and everywhere you are, so we knew the app would be in high demand. After such positive feedback in beta, we can’t wait to see comedy lovers everywhere start to use the product. You’re welcome.'
Laugh.ly offers tens of thousands of stand-up comedy routines, with a free service supported by ads, or a premium service for $3.99 per month.
Over the beta testing, which ran from July 20 to yesterday, the top ten comics were:
- Louis C.K.
- Aziz Ansari
- George Carlin
- Bill Burr

- Kevin Hart
- Christian Finnegan
- Marc Maron
