Now Dirty Rotten Scoundrels gets a female reboot
First there was Ghostbusters, now Hollywood is to remake Dirty Rotten Scoundrels with female leads.
Rebel Wilson will be one of the stars of the new movie, and tweeted: 'The con is on!! I will be starring in a remake of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels for MGM.'
Her co-star has not yet been announced.
The 1988 comedy starred Steve Martin and Michael Caine as conmen competing to swindle a wealthy young heiress – who in the reboot is replaced with a tech tycoon.
Even the 1988 film was a remake, though, of 1964's Bedtime Story, starring Marlon Brando and David Niven.
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is the second gender-swap remake to be announced within a week, following the news that Channing Tatum play the mermaid in a new version of Splash.
Wilson – who is currently earning rave reviews in Guys and Dolls in the West End is also attached to a remake of the Goldie Hawn comedy Private Benjamin.
