Jarleth Regan 'in talks' for chat show
Irish comic Jarleth Regan is in talks to host his own interview show.
Broadcasters have expressed an interest in signing the stand-up following the success of his Irishman Abroad podcast.
‘I have had those discussions and I want to do that. We are in some talks at the moment,’ he told the Irish Sunday Mirror.
Regan, who performs at Dublin’s Vodafone Comedy Festival today before heading to the Edinburgh Fringe later in the week, added: ‘I’ve always wanted to interview people. Every opportunity I’ve had to do it, I did it. In university I did get the opportunity to interview guests that would come in to visit.
‘But when I decided to do the podcast, I guess you don’t really know if you can do it until you try it. I just wanted to get better at it. It’s the process of listening and responding, coming up with good questions and doing your research.
‘You only get better at it through practice. We’ve definitely had enough practice with 150 episodes behind us.’
Meanwhile, James Corden is reportedly in line to be offered a primetime variety show in the US to showcase his talents.
He currently hosts the Late Late Show at about 12.35am, where he has impressed critics and spawned successful online strands such as Carpool Karaoke.
Network bosses at CBS are said to be keen to offer him a higher profile slot for fear of losing him to rival broadcasters.
'The plan is for a primetime variety show which showcases all his talents,’ an unnamed source told The Mail on Sunday today. ‘The move will happen sooner rather than later. The talks started last week.'
