Tape Face has made it to the semi-finals of America’s Got Talent.

The mime, also known as The Boy With Tape On His Face, secured enough votes from viewers of the NBC talent show to make it through.

He learned that he was one of seven acts from his live heat to make the cut last night.

When Tape Face performed at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Simon Cowell said 'a star is born', adding: 'I had no idea what that meant. I think you're like Mr Bean that you're gonna end up in movies and TV shows.'

But fellow judge Mel B said she was 'a little bit disappointed' compared to the wow factor she felt at his first audition.

On the show, the British-based Kiwi, real name Sam Wills, performed sketches wi judge Heidi Klum and host Nick Cannon:

His success on getting through to the semis will prove a huge boost to his career in the US. His original audition has more than 37 million views on YouTube, while his performance on the live show was seen by 10.5million vierws

Twelve more acts will compete for another seven spots next week, with the remaining semi-finalists chosen on August 23-24.
