India's comedy king comes to the UK
Indian comedy megastar Kapil Sharma is to make his UK debut at Wembley Arena.
The stand-up, sketch comic and showbusiness interviewer, whose show Comedy Nights With Kapil attracted almost 12million viewers in India at its peak, has announced he'll take to the London stage on August 20.
His show will feature established sketches, music and new material, with Sharma joined by his regular supporting cast of Ali Asgar, Chandan Prabhakar, Sumona Chakravarti, Kiku Sharda and Sunil Grover.
Sharma told Chortle: 'I have been approached by numerous people to perform in the UK in the last five years and just had no time. My fans will see a comedy show made for the UK audience full of laughter and many different characters.'
Comedy Nights made the comic a household name, becoming the highest-rated scripted show on the subcontinent. A mix of sketches and interviews with celebrities, it which ran from June 2013, until Sharma quit following an acrimonious bust-up with the channel Colors in January this year.
Sharma, who has five million Twitter followers, announced the Wembley date on Noreen Khan's show on the BBC Asian Network, and the radio station is backing the live event.

Sharma is currently shooting his new television series in Dehli, The Kapil Sharma Show, which begins airing tomorrow on Sony TV Asia in the UK, featuring an interview with Bollywood star Shah Ruk Khan.
