Based on ...Makes The World Substantially Better

Mark Watson is working on a TV adaptation of his Radio 4 series …Makes The World Substantially Better.

A not-for-broadcast pilot of the new show, entitled Mark Watson Has Various Problems is being shot in front of an audience at a West London boxing club on Friday night.

The comic will be joined by fellow Edinburgh comedy award-winners Will Adamsdale and Sam Simmons in place of his radio sidekicks, Tim Key and Tom Basden.

BBC Worldwide are making the pilot, then will pitch the show to potential broadcasters, which may include Dave and the BBC.

Watson said: 'It'll be a fun night and it could take off…'

Mark Watson Makes The World Substantially Better ran for two series in 2007 and 2008; with a follow-up, Mark Watson's Live Address to the Nation, following the same format in 2011. Tim Minchin provided music for the first series before being replaced by Basden.
