Jongleurs loses its Glasgow home
Jongleurs has unexpectedly lost its Glasgow home – with just a few days' notice.
Tomorrow's show will be the last in the Mansion House nightclub, after operators Novus Leisure unexpectedly decided it no longer wanted to run the venue.
The company handed keys back to the landlords on Tuesday, when staff were told that the venue would be closing just five days later.
It means Jongleurs has been left homeless – although the company hopes to find a new venue within a couple of months. London-based staff from the club chain will be heading to Glasgow to scout for new venues later this month.
'We're looking,' a Jongleurs spokesman said today. 'Lots of places have been offered, but it's got to be right.'
Novus is also closing its Tiger Tiger venue in Croydon, which hosted Jongleurs comedy nights until 2014.
Glasgow's Mansion House, which employs around 50 staff, opened in 2011 following a £1 million refurbishment to convert it from Tiger Tiger.
Jongleurs has lost several venues in recent years. Parent company Intertain closed its Leeds venue earlier this year, moving the nights to the city's Tiger Tiger.
Momo Leisure – which ran the Nottingham and Bristol Jongleurs venues, as well as nights in Birmingham, London Piccadilly and Cardiff – collapsed in 2013
