Comic picked to represent Britain
STAND-UP Ola has won the British section of the international Joke Nation competition, landing him a slot at the Montreux Comedy Festival in Switzerland next month. He will be representing the UK alongside Craig Hill, who our 'ambassador' to the event on the shores of Lake Geneva.
MRS BROWN'S BOYS has won another Bafta, picking up the comedy and entertainment gong in the awards handed out by the Scottish division. The Dog Ate My Homework, the CBBC quiz show fronted by comedian Iain Stirling won the children's category and Sharon Rooney won best actress for her starring role in E4 comedy-drama My Mad Fat Diary.
AMERICAN comics Hari Kondabolu are Nick Thune are to make rare trips to the UK, for gigs at London's Soho Theatre. Kondabolu, a political comic who has appeared on Letterman, Conan, Jimmy Kimmel Live and John Oliver's New York Standup Show will play on December 11 and 12; while Thune, who has been on The Tonight Show ten times, visits from February 1 to 6.

GEORGE EGG, who won a Melvyn Stutter Spirit of the Fringe Award at Edinburgh this year for his show demonstrating how to cook using only the equipment found in a hotel room, is launching a new comedy night mixing stand-ups and food experts. The Mess kicks off at The Proud Archivist in London on November 30.
