GREG DAVIES, Jon Richardson and Katherine Ryan are the first celebrities to be confirmed for this year's Let's Play Darts for Sport Relief. They will join sports stars Mike Tindall and Robbie Savage at the competition, to be filmed at Lakeside Frimley Green later this month and broadcast on BBC Two next year.

DAILY SHOW host Trevor Noah underwent an emergency appendectomy yesterday, causing him to miss the show. A repeat was aired instead. Comedy Central said the procedure went well and he was expected back tonight. Noah took over The Daily Show from Jon Stewart in September.

JOHN BISHOP has been announced as the headliner of the Altitude Comedy Festival in the Austrian Alps, making his third appearance at the event. Katherine Ryan, Beardyman and Alex Edelman have also joined the line-up in Mayrhofen from January 11 to 15. They join previously announced acts such as Jim Jeffries, Sean Lock and Germany's Michael Mittermeier.

EDINBURGH best newcomer award-winner Sofie Hagen has contributed to a new book I Call Myself A Feminist, in which 25 women under 30 write about what being a feminist means to them. One of the book's editors is comedy producer Amy Annette, and it is released today – 24 hours after laddish Dapper Laughs sparked debate after declaring: 'I am a feminist'. Buy the book.

THE MUPPETS is to get a new showrunner, midway through its first season. Bob Kushell is being replaced by Galavant co–executive producer Kristin Newman in what's seen as a move to hold sliding ratings. The latest reboot, for America's ABC network and aired on Sky 1 here, has been critically slammed for its unexpectedly cynical tone.
