Brian Cox comes to Chortle Book Festival
Hollywood star Brian Cox is to appear at the Chortle Comedy Book festival this weekend.
The Shakespearean actor has appeared in Troy, X-Men United and Rise of the Planet of the Apes – as well as playing self-centred cheeseburger tycoon and political candidate Bob Servant in the BBC Four comedy of the same name.
Cox – who also played Daphne Moon's father in Frasier – will be appearing at the session alongside the character's creator, Neil Forsyth, on Saturday night.
The event will also feature Jonathan Watson, who played Frank; Alex Norton who played Jim 'Hendo' Henderson and Sally Kinghorn.
Forsyth said: 'It's great to have Brian involved for what will be a fun night. He's managed to fit us in between Penny Dreadful and Starship Troopers 2, so all bets are off in terms of his costuming.'
It was today announced that Cox will also star as Winston Churchill in a new biopic of the wartime leader, concentrating on the tense build up to the D-Day landings and his relationship with wife Clementine.
The Chortle Comedy Book Festival takes place at Hornsey Town Hall Arts Centre in Crouch End, North London, on Saturday and Sunday.
Other events include: Nicholas Parsons on Just A Minute; a kids' session with David Baddiel; Phill Jupitus and Sara Pascoe on they psychological make-up of comedians; Peep Show's Isy Suttie previewing her 2016 book; Ab Fab's Helen Lederer; a tribute to Douglas Adams; comic looks at identity theft and email scammers; Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee The Story Beats; and the top new comic writers in the PG Wodehouse Award.
