Radio 2 tees up a golf comedy
Horrible Histories and Yonderland star Simon Farnaby is piloting a new sitcom promising to 'do for golf clubs what Green Wing did for hospitals'.
The Peterford Golf Club originally started as a live show with Farnaby's brief double-act partner Waen Shepherd – the creator of new-age singer Gary Le Strange – in 2001. It then became a one-off pilot for E4 in 2007 called Golf War, also starring Matt Berry, Nina Conti and Rich Fulcher.
Now Radio 2 are piloting their own version as part of its return to scripted comedy, with an episode to be recorded later this month.
The new cast includes Claire Keelan, Barunka O'Shaughnessy and Tom Meeten, as well as Farnaby himself as golf club regular Stuart.
Farnaby's script involve him trying to get onto the committee, by forcing rival Bob out of the picture.
The pilot episode will be recorded on October 28 at the BBC Radio Theatre in Broacasting House. See our free tickets page for details of how to be in the audience.
Frankly is current starring in the Shakesperean comedy Bill, in cinemas nows, playing the cowardly villain, The Earl of Croydon.
