New TV comedy for Catherine Tate
Catherine Tate and Miles Jupp are to star in a one-off TV comedy set in a boutique hotel.
They play a couple attempting reconciliation after her affair with a much younger man in the hour-long Do Not Disturb, which is being made for the Gold channel.
It also stars Sian Gibson in her first role since appearing alongside Peter Kay in Car Share, and Kierston Wareing, who played Kirsty Branning in EastEnders.
The script was written by Aschlin Ditta – who co-wrote the Catherine Tate Show – and filming begins next week.
UKTV commissioner Simon Lupton said: ‘We’re delighted that Catherine Tate will bring her unique wit and comedy genius to the heart of this landmark programme for Gold. Do Not Disturb has all the hallmarks of a brilliant comedic set up that will resonate with the channel’s audience.’
Do Not Disturb, which is being made by production company Lonesome Pine, is due to be broadcast in January.
It is the latest of Gold’s original comedy commitments. Other programmes in the pipeline include Bull starring Robert Lindsay as an antiques dealer and Marley’s Ghosts, featuring Sarah Alexander as a widow who can talk to the dead.
