Mindy Project cancelled
US comedy show The Mindy Project has been cancelled after three series.
Mindy Kaling’s quirky romantic comedy has been critically acclaimed, but struggled to attract good ratings for the Fox network.
The last series, which ended in March, averaged 2.31million viewers, down ten per cent on the second run, with just over a million of them in the key 18-49 demographic.
However, online platform Hulu has reportedly expressed interest in the show. The streaming service already has rights to the existing episodes, and reports from the US suggest it may be willing to pick up two more seasons.
Kaling, who came to fame on the US version of The Office, tweeted this morning: ‘Hey guys, I’m in Montana, is anything happening in LA? #themindyproject’ and linking to an Instagram video showing her giving a cheeky wink to the camera.
It would not be the first time a show has made the leap online, following the likes of Arrested Development on Netflix and Community on Yahoo.
