Him and Her star Kerry Howard is to star in a new BBC Three sitcom.
Witless involves two flatmates who are forced into the witness protection scheme after observing a shocking gangland shooting.
The series is being written by Joe Tucker and Lloyd Woolf, who previously created the Sky 1 series Parents and Comedy Central’s Big Bad World.
In an unbroadcast pilot, the flatmate was played by Charity Wakefield, who also played Mary Boleyn in Wolf Hall. However the BBC have not yet announced any casting news for the series.
Howard said: ‘This has been a really exciting time for me. It’s such a privilege to work for the BBC – to be valued and counted amongst their talent is a joy’
Referring to the planned move of BBC Three to an online-only channel, the BBC’s head of comedy commissioning, Shane Allen said: ‘Comedy on BBC Three is very much alive and kicking as this thrilling new series commission demonstrates. Kerry is such a talented actress and has already proved a huge hit on the channel. This series offers the perfect opportunity for her to keep audiences laughing.’
The sitcom, made by Objective Productions, follows a sketch show she piloted for the company in 2013 but which was not picked up.
