London show for Mel Brooks
Mel Brooks is to appear in a one-man show on the London stage.
It will be the first time that the 88-year-old creator of The Producers and Blazing Saddles has performed a solo show in Britain.
He said: ‘I am thrilled to bring this introspective retrospective of my life and career to the West End stage. It will be an evening the audience will never forget—whether they want to or not!’
The one-off live show will take place at the Prince Of Wales Theatre on 22 March and tickets will go on sale tomorrow.
Co-producer Hani Farsi said: ‘I have been a Mel Brooks fan all of my life and his incredible career is something that I have personally celebrated for many years. Being able to co-produce his London show gives me the opportunity to celebrate with him and the people of London. It will be an amazing night.’
The show will feature a look back at Brooks’ childhood and career, for which he has won the quartet of Tony, Emmy, Grammy and Academy Awards.
His visit comes as the UK tour of The Producers, starring Jason Manford, Phill Jupitus and, later, Ross Noble, hits the road.
