Comic given 546 years to settle £6k debt
A court has ordered comedian Ross Wagman to pay back £6,500 in unpaid rent he racked up – at a rate of just £1 a month.
The order means it will take his former landlord, Ray Wright, 546 years to get back the 18 months of unpaid rent.
The bill also includes £2,000 to clear up the industrial unit Wagman was renting, plus £900 in legal fees. Wright told The Sun that the comedian left the place in such a state it took 18 skips to remove the rubbish
‘It's ludicrous that he could get a judgement like that. I think it’s absolutely stupid’, the 68-year-old said of the £1-a-month repayment plan.’He’s just taking the mick.’
As well as being a comic, Wagman runs a wholesale business called Craft Parcels providing arts items. He was a finalist in the 2003 City Life final in Manchester and performed with the ComedySportz Improv group, where he met his wife Meg, until 2010.
Wagman began making monthly payments after the ruling last February, but Wright aid the instalments stopped in October and has taken the case back to Bury County Court last week to claim the outstanding £6,559.
Chortle has approached Wagman for comment.
