ITV signs on for The Job Lot again

Third series of unemployment office sitcom

ITV2 has recommissoned The Job Lot for a third series, with filming set to commence this spring.

Sarah Hadland will return as highly strung manager Trish, and Russell Tovey as her favourite member of staff, Karl, when the Midlands Job Centre reopens its doors. 

The second series completed its run in 2014 after moving from ITV’s main channel to ITV2.

Laura Aikman, Jo Enright, Angela Curran, Martin Marquez and Sophie McShera will all be returning for the comedy’s thrd series.

The Job Lot is a Big Talk Production from the writing team of Claire Downes, Stuart Lane and Ian Jarvis, who are joined this series by writers Rachael New and Tom Parry – best known for being a third of the Pappy’s sketch trip.

Sasha Ransome will direct the series, Jim Poyser will produce and Big Talk chief executive, Kenton Allen is Executive Producer.

Angela Jain, ITV’s director of digital channels and acquisitions said: ‘The Job Lot is a brilliantly sharp comedy and we’re really pleased to have it back for a third series.

‘Its style of humour and wonderfully observed cast of characters fits perfectly on the channel alongside our other scripted comedies.’

Saskia Schuster, ITV’s comedy commissioner added: ‘We're really happy to bring back this delightfully warm comedy set in a Midlands job centre.  The scripts are yet again superbly written as we catch up with our favourite characters.’
