For a new Channel 4 comedy pilot

Channel 4 are piloting a sitcom set in a porn shop, starring Rich Fulcher.

The comedian and Mighty Boosh actor will play the lead character, also called Rich, whose business is struggling against online competition. Fulcher also wrote the show, which is titled That’s Rich.

Other characters include Rich’s Apprentice-obsessed son, Alistair; hipster hairdresser Fantasio; jacket potato shop owner Dalton; and a community police officer trying to keep the high street respectable.

The pilot, which is not for broadcast, will be shot this spring by by Miranda Hart and David Walliam’s new production company King Bert.

Executive producer Jo Sargent said: ‘The last time I saw Rich perform live, I laughed so much I had red wine coming out of my nose so it’s really exciting now to be doing a studio pilot with him.’

Fulcher added: ‘I am so excited to get an opportunity to do a show with the team at Channel 4, the home to cutting edge comedy...and I plan to do a lot of edgy cutting.

’Everyone at C4 is so receptive to the show – think Steptoe and Son set in a porn shop - and I feel like we're in another renaissance of great, original programming.’
