Comics in line for radio drama award
Marcus Brigstocke,John Finnemore and Ruth Bratt and Lucy Trodd are in the running for a BBC radio award.
Their Radio 4 shows The Brig Society, John Finnemore’s Souvenir Programme and Trodd En Bratt Say Well Done You have all been nominated for the BBC Audio Drama Award for the best scripted comedy with a studio audience.
Each show was scripted by its stars, with The Brig Society co-written with Jeremy Salsby, Toby Davies, Nick Doody, Steve Punt and Dan Tetsell.
In another category for best scripted comedy drama, writer Jon Canter has nailed two of the three nominees: for Believe It! the faux autobiography of Richard Wilson and for I'm A Believer, a one-off in which a man layed by Stephen Mangan meets God in a dream.
Also in the running is Lunch by Marcy Kahan – a 15-minute drama also starring Mangan.
The finalists have been announced today following the publication of a shortlist in November. Winners will be announced at a ceremony at BBC Broadcasting House in London on February 1.
