Another round of Toast
Channel 4 has commissioned Matt Berry to make a third series of Toast of London.
The news was announced to coincide with the end of the sitcom’s second run tonight.
Channel 4 head of comedy, Phil Clarke, said: ‘Channel 4 has always backed original comedy, the type of shows you wouldn’t find anywhere else, and Toast of London represents a significant new chapter in that story, and in our comedy heritage.’
The show, co-written by Father Ted’s Arthur Mathews, leads the nominations at this month’s British comedy award, making the shortlist for best sitcom, best new comedy programme and the new category for best comedy moment of the year among others.
Made by Objective Productions, the show co-stars Doon Mackichan and Robert Bathurst and on the sitcom prize at the Rose d’Or awards in September.
