Matt Lucas to host International Emmys
MATT LUCAS has been named as host of the International Emmy awards. Bruce L. Paisner, president of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences that gives out the awards hailed Lucas as 'one of the most talented comedic performers and writers of his generation'. The show takes place on November 24 at the Hilton New York Hotel.
HARRY ENFIELD and Rufus Hound have joined the cast of Scottish Mussel, the rom-com starring Talulah Riley from St Trinian's, Joe Thomas from The Inbetweeners, and Russell Kane making his big-screen acting debut. Details of their roles have not been revealed.
DOC BROWN has revealed that he is to appear in Ricky Gervais's new David Brent movie. The film revolves around Brent trying to make a career as a musician, and comedy rapper Brown said that he readily agreed saying: 'Whatever Ricky's got to say, I'm going to say yes.' Brown – real name Ben Bailey Smith – previously rapped with Gervais's alter-ego in the Equality Street Comic Relief song and appeared in the first series of Derek.
THE LIVE Still Game show, performed at The Hydro in Glasgow, is to be aired on BBC One in Scotland at 9pm on November 7.
COMEDY promoter Kerry Howard has been named the Brighton & Sussex home based business of the year at the Venus Awards for female entrepreneurs. She runs Charity Chuckle, which has raised more than £14,000 for local charities, and said: 'It’s lovely boost, not just for me, but for women in comedy.'
