Documentary first for QI's Dan Schreiber

Comedian Dan Schreiber is to front a one-off Channel 4 documentary about British people who believe in alien conspiracy theories.

The Big ET Conspiracy is the first TV documentary for the stand-up, who is also a QI 'elf' and co-creator of the Radio 4 series Museum Of Curiosity, and focusses on those who believe governments have covered up alien landings.

He said: 'I’m fascinated by conspiracy theories - the stories, the people and the connections they make. This isn't about proving them right, or debunking them, it's just an appreciation for some fantastic mind-blowing ideas.'

The hour-long film has been commissioned from Plum Productions, a company which focusses on star-led factual shows such as Ronnie's Animal Crackers, with Ronnie Corbett, James May's Man Lab, and Inside Death Row with Trevor McDonald.

Executive producer Will Daws added: 'Dan is an exciting new presenter who brings a fresh insight into the world of the ET conspiracy theories. He has embarked on a mysterious journey full of claims of strange sightings and government cover ups, but never loses his sense of awe at being introduced to some of the country’s best-known conspiracy theorists.'

Schreiber is currently appearing in his debut Edinburgh Fringe Show, Cockblocked From Outer Space.
