Eddie Izzard announces Fringe gig
Eddie Izzard is to play a one-off gig at the Edinburgh Fringe next week. He and Dylan Moran will present German's Michael Mittermeier, France's Yacine Belhousse, Russia's Igor Meerson and Italy's Francesco De Carlo – all acts that are backing as part of a campaign to make comedy more international. The Comedy Sans Frontieres gig will be at Pleasance Grand at 23:50 on Tuesday August 5. Tickets.
STEWART LEE has announced a month-long residency at London's Leicester Square Theatre in January. As with previous runs, the show will feature material in progress for his next series of Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle on BBC Two. The run extends from January 5 to 31. Tickets.
BRITISH-based Kiwi stand-up Jarred Christmas won a contest at the Montreal to pitch comedy ideas to network executives. The show he wrote with fellow comic Steve Williams, The Peter Trials, is described as a slightly surreal sitcom about a good man wrongly sent to hell who must beat the devil at his own game in order to get out. As his prize he gets to take part in the New York Television Festival in October.
