TWO sequels to Mrs Brown's Boys
Brendan O'Carroll has revealed that he's working on not just one sequel to the new Mrs Brown's Boys film – but two.
One of the spin-offs is based on a new character he plays in Mrs Brown's Boys D'Movie, Mr Wang, the second is about gay hairdressers.
The Mr Wang role was originally meant to be taken by Burt Kwouk, but the 83-year-old was too ill to travel, meaning O'Carroll had to change the Chinese character so he could play it himself.
He told the BBC: 'I said, "You can't take the piss out of a Chinese person. If you are going to take the piss out of a Chinese person, you have to have someone Chinese playing the part."
'So I thought, I'll play the part of a guy, who wants to be Chinese; who thinks he's Chinese; who dresses like he's Chinese; but all he does is deliver Chinese. But he's convinced he's Chinese! And out of that came Mr Wang.'
One film he is writing is set in Mr Wang's Detective Agency, with Mrs Brown's sons Buster and Dermot working for him.
The other is about Mrs Brown's gay son Rory and his husband Dino and their hair salon. O'Carroll will play salon owner Mario in the film, entitled Wash and Blow.
Mrs Brown's Boys D'Movie opens next Friday, but perhaps anticipating an unfavourable critical reaction, no advance screenings have been held for film reviewers.
O'Carroll first teased the fact there would be a follow-up to the movie earlier this week.
