Portraits of the Females Of The Fringe

A tight 5: March 25

PHOTOGRAPHER Jessica McDermott is planning to release a photo-book of female comedians including Sarah Millican, Susan Calman and Jenny Eclair at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe. She has just launched a crowdfunding drive to raise the money to print 250 copies of the 80-page book Females Of The Fringe, which will go on sale at the festival, priced £20.

FOX has set an air date for the fourth season of Louis CK's series Louie. The series will be making its UK debut on May 8, just three days after its original screening in the States.

AUDIENCE figures for third series of Rev – more than two years after the last – have taken a dive. The series launched with 1.5million viewers last night, down more than 800,000 on the first episode of series two, but still well above BBC Two’s slot average of 1.1million.

MONTY BURNS – a stand-up rather than The Simpsons character – and Jamali Maddix jointly won the Manchester heat of the Chortle Student Comedy Award with ALCATEL ONETOUCH and Universal Pictures (UK), after judges could not separate them. Glaswegian Burns, 31, is studying for his A-levels at Leeds City College after a career in the Army; while Lononder Maddix, 22, is studying performance practice at Salford University.

X-MEN star Ellen Page has been signed up to the new John Belushi biopic, to play the comic's widow Judith. The project – which stars Emile Hirsch as the hellraising lead – is based on Judith's biography Belushi and will be directed by Steve Conrad, who wrote the recent The Secret Life of Walter Mitty film.
