America's FX orders The Comedians
America is to get another sitcom set behind the scenes of a late-night sketch comedy show.
The FX network has ordered a full series of The Comedians, starring Billy Crystal as a veteran comedian reluctantly paired with an edgy up-and-comer, played by Josh Gadd.
Although the premise is slightly similar to Tina Fey’s 30 Rock, it is actually based on a Swedish show of the same name.
The new commission of 13 episodes follows a successful pilot, ordered by FX last summer.
It is being written by Seinfeld and Borat writer Larry Charles along with Matt Nix and Ben Wexler. And the supporting cast includes Stephanie Weir, Matt Oberg and Megan Ferguson.
The series will be filmed later this year and is expected to debut in 2015.
