Gongs for Plebs, Wrong Mans & Mrs Brown
Plebs, The Wrong Mans and Mrs Brown’s Boys were among the winners at the Royal Television Society Awards last night,
ITV2’s ancient Roman sitcom was named best scripted comedy ahead of fellow nominees A Touch Of Cloth II and Toast Of London.
However creators Sam Leifer and Tom Basden were beaten to the comedy writing category by James Corden and Mathew Baynton forThe Wrong Mans. The team behind Pyschobitches had also been nominated.
In the comedy performance category, Brendan O’Carroll took the gong for Mrs Brown; ahead of Rebecca Front for Psychobitches and Ryan Sampson for Plebs.
The Last Leg, hosted by Adam Hills, Josh Widdicombe and Alex Brooker, took the entertainment award; while Alan Carr won entertainment performance for Chatty Man – making a double in this genre for Channel 4.
Other winners included Stephen Fry, who was named best presenter for his series Stephen Fry: Out There, in which he saw how gay people were treated around the world.
